Kids 'n Kinship Youth Receive Chromebooks through Best Buy grant!

Thanks to Best Buy, 6 teens received Google Chromebooks in this year's Tech Mentor program! The youth and their adult supporters (mentors & parents) learned how to use the Chromebooks and created projects to showcase the impact mentoring has had on their lives.  In the final class, youth shared their mentor stories using a projector.  Much thanks to Best Buy Geek Squad Sergey Goldman who was our instructor for the class! Thanks also to Best Buy Apple Valley who hosted the first class and to Keller Williams who hosted the 2nd class!

Gearing up for our 14th Annual Bowlathon!

Kids 'n Kinship is in high-gear getting ready for our 14th Annual Bowlathon at Cedarvale Lanes on Sunday, November 10th!  100 Kids 'n Kinship mentors, mentees, & their family members are joining us for bowling in our completely full first session.  Then, 50 community members on teams from Eagan High School, AAA Minnesota/Iowa, Best Buy, & Elder-Jones are bowling for us in the second session.  Everyone is invited to purchase raffle tickets to try to win one of our 3 lovely themed baskets and also to bid on our 3 baskets in our silent auction. Best Buy & Kids 'n Kinship team up to teach teens in the Tech Mentor program

On April 3^rd, 13 of our Kids ‘n Kinship teens each with their own coach, attended the first of three sessions for our new Tech Mentor Program.   Funded by Best Buy, these teens will attend classes that will teach them how to use a digital camera with video, how to upload, edit, post photos to social media, and how to make a slideshow or video.   Teens who complete the classes will be able to keep the cameras.  The skills they learn will assist them in their middle school and high school classes as well as in their social life and into future jobs.  The class is taught by a past mentee of the program who loves technology and is now a college graduate and a Best Buy employee.  The kids, volunteers and staff are all excited about this new project!
